Moldova's development path must be independent - MP

14:01 | 24.08.2016 Category: Political

Andrei Neguta, MP of Moldovan parliament, Party of Socialists’ faction

MOLDPRES: After the proclamation of Independence, Moldova could follow three ways of development: independent, unionist or closely dependent on the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS) (most recently, the Eurasian Union). Should we start from the very beginning, what path would you choose?

Neguta: “If” in politics and history does not exist. Citizens’ life is not a cinema film, which we may forward or backward. All we have cannot be changed into the past. We can ensure only future.

MOLDPRES: What future do you see for Moldova?

Neguta: I can see Moldova’s future in urgent actions for medium and long term. The most important action is election by people of a president on 30 October, who will not represent oligarchies.

A very important medium-term action represents parliamentary elections in 2018 (if snap elections are not held), when the current government should not get parliamentary majority. This will allow creating a real professional government, which daily will settle citizens’ problems.

If the presidential and parliamentary elections are held, as I said above, then changes favorable for each citizen will be in Moldova.

Moldova’s development path must be independent, a path strengthening the state institutions and settling human problems. For this, we have to use the EU possibilities to modernize the country, to efficiently use relations with CIS, Eurasian Union, firstly, to restore Moldova’s foreign trade (export of vegetables, fruits, wine and other products to Russia and other post-Soviet countries).

At the same time, in my opinion, the unionist path is unconstitutional, it destroys the Moldovan state, it must be excluded from consideration.

In conclusion, I think that the primary is the citizen to participate in forming the country’s future. Presently, the people have to protest, because of the current government, which does not solve the citizens’ problems. When the state works for people, everyone will be active in difficult processes, necessary for the country’s development. Thus, Moldova will have future, if the processes are for citizen and not for oligarchic system that captured the country.
