Turkish president conveys congratulations to Moldova on 25th anniversary of independence

Chisinau, 24 August /MOLDPRES/- On an official visit to Ankara, Deputy Prime Minister, Foreign and European Integration Minister Andrei Galbur met Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan on 23 August, the Foreign and European Integration Ministry’s information and media relations service has reported.
Galbur reiterated firm condemnation by Moldovan authorities of the violent attempt to take over state power by force in July 2016 in Turkey. He pointed out the Moldovan authorities’ solidarity with democratically elected leadership of Turkey. Also, he voiced condolences on behalf of the country leadership in connection with the recent terrorist attacks in Turkey.
The officials considered the current situation and prospects for development of bilateral relations. The sides voiced confidence on existence of all prerequisites for advancing the relations at the level of strategic partnership. In this context, Galbur thanked for the valuable support provided by Turkey during years of independence of Moldova. On this occasion, Erdogan conveyed sincere congratulations on the 25th anniversary of independence to the Moldovan leadership and entire people.
At the same time, the sides exchanged opinions about the existence of unrealized potential in the economic cooperation between both countries. The officials voiced confidence that the forthcoming entrance into force of the free trade agreement would contribute to boosting the bilateral commerce.
The sides highlighted the role of friendship and cooperation bridge between the two countries, which falls to Gagauzia. In this context, Galbur highly appreciated the Turkish authorities’ support for more actively integrating Gagauz population into Moldovan society.
At the end, Erdogan expressed willingness to pay an official visit to Moldova in the nearest future.
