No Moldovans among victims of earthquake in Italy

Chisinau, 24 August /MOLDPRES/- The Foreign and European Integration Ministry (MAEIE) informed that there were no citizens of Moldova among people who had suffered from an earthquake in Italy today.
The MAEIE’s press service said that in accordance with the information from the Moldovan embassy in Rome, “the Civil Protection Service in Italy confirmed that there are no Moldovans among victims of earthquake.”

A magnitude 6.2 earthquake has struck central Italy today morning. The quake hit most strongly the town of Amatrice. It was followed by an aftershock about one hour later, as being magnitude 5.5. According to the Italian media, more buildings collapsed and at least 14 people died.
Italy was hit repeatedly by strong quakes over the past years. In May 2012, more strong quakes in Northern Italy left dozens of casualties. In April 2009, a magnitude 6.3 earthquake left 295 dead in central Italy.
