National Award 2016 winners selected

Chisinau, 24 August /MOLDPRES/ - The Cabinet of Ministers approved in its meeting today, the list of winners of the National Award edition 2016. According to the government decision, personalities with the most remarkable achievements, with a major impact on areas of national importance, will be awarded with 100 thousand lei.
According to the communication and press relations department of the Government, the National Prize winners competed in four areas, according to the sphere of activity and outstanding results achieved. So, the National Award in Science was awarded to Constantin Etco, Doctor of Medical Sciences for his contribution to the development of health system management and implementation of mandatory health insurance in Moldova. In the same category, for historical and scientific exploitation of Cantemir's intellectual legacy and promote it internationally, it has been appreciated academician Victor Ţvircun.
In Technologies there were awarded two prizes, namely: doctor of agricultural sciences Gheorghe Gaberi and PhD in technical sciences Constantin Sirghi, creating and implementing local varieties and modern technologies in the national wine sector and Associate Professor Anatolie Zolotcov for technological solutions on the strength of reinforced concrete structural walls of buildings to seismic actions.
Most prizes were awarded this year to personalities of culture and arts. Nicolae Glib was commended for excellence in his musical career, Petru Hadirca - to promote theater art in Moldova and abroad, and Virgil Margineanu and Leontina Vataman-Margineanu, for initiating and successfully organizing the International Festival of Documentary Film: Chronograph. Winners of the National Award 2016 were announced: writer Andrei Turcan, works of literary criticism and poetry Arheul marginii și alte figuri (Edge arch and other figures) and Zapezi în august (The Snows in August), the poet Traian Vasilcau for trilogy chanting Regasit in cer (Found in heaven), promoting literature national organization of cultural events abroad and supporting young talents, and Simion Zamsa for fruitful activity in the field of fine arts, including Opera omnia.
The National Award is given annually by the Government as a sign of gratitude for the results achieved in various areas of activity, including research, technological and cultural developments. Selection of winners is made by secret ballot by a committee of the Moldovan Prime Minister, ministers and heads of relevant institutions, creative people and academics. The festive ceremony of handing the National Award will be held on Friday, 26 August 2016 at the Palace of the Republic.
