Moldovan farmers receive compensation for fruit

Chisinau, 25 August /MOLDPRES/- The Agency for Intervention and Payments for Agriculture (AIPA), subordinated to the Agriculture and Food Ministry, continues to pay debts as compensation to farmers, owners of apple and plum plantations, who registered losses after restrictions set on export by Russia in 2014.
Thus, according to the AIPA’s press service, on 24 August, 10 million lei, out of 43 million lei, was paid in compensation for the losses of farmers after the Russian embargo.
On 17 August, AIPA made payments to other 30 beneficiaries amounting to 10.57 million lei. Thus, about 22.4 million lei is to be paid. The money for compensation was earmarked from the subsidy fund estimated at 900 million lei in 2016.
Beneficiaries of compensation are only legal entities holding apple and plum plantations with an area exceeding 15 hectares of land.
