U.S. envoy conveys congratulatory message on Moldova's independence

Chisinau, 27 August /MOLDPRES/- U.S. Ambassador to Moldova James D.Pettit today conveyed a congratulatory message on the 25th anniversary of Moldova's Independence.
Good wishes were sent via a video film. "We are proud we were among the first countries recognizing Moldova's independence. During the 25 years, the country made progress on the EU integration and took efforts needed to get closer to the European standards, to consolidate economy and develop society," James D. Pettit said.
The official also noted that 25 years represented a young age for a state. "Thus, being a young nation, Moldova has to make more steps towards progress that citizens enjoy, steps that will require total dedication to democratic values. The United States joined as a friend and development partner, and we are glad to continue this wonderful collaboration. 25 years together, 25 years of bilateral relations with the United States, and as US President Barack Obama declared, we are hoping other 25 years of partnership and progress," he said.
In 2016, Moldova marks 25 years of independence, voted by the parliament on 27 August 1991.
