In Moldova starts presidential elections campaign

Chisinau, 31 August /MOLDPRES/ – The presidential election period for 30 October starts today by applications submitted to the Central Election Commission (CEC) and the initiative groups registration to collect signatures in support of candidate for head of state position.
The CEC Chairman Alina Russu, announced before that initiative groups’ registration to be on 31 August – 9 September this year. "After identification cards issue, it will start collecting of 15 thousand signatures for each candidate for President of the country. Thereafter, until 30 September, the initiative groups have to present the collected signatures to the CEC, the same day, it will start campaigning," said Russu.
At the same time, the CEC published the list of 45 parties and socio-political organizations that can nominate candidates to the presidential elections. Included in the list are all parliamentary parties: PDM, PLDM, PL, PPEM, PCRM and PSRM.
At the same time, among the non-parliamentary parties mentioned in the document are: Partidul Nostru (Our Party), Partidul Platforma Demnitate si Adevar (the Party Platform and Truth and Dignity) and Partidul Actiune si Solidaritate (Action and Solidarity Party).
Last week, the CEC stated that the total number of voting citizens registered in the State Register of Voters is over 3,2 million, out of which only 2,8 million citizens eligible to vote are assigned to districts.
