PPEM leader is candidate for presidency in Moldova

Chisinau, 31 August /MOLDPRES/ – The Chairman of Partidul Popular European din Moldova (PPEM) (the European People's Party of Moldova), Iurie Leanca was appointed today as the party's candidate for the presidential elections of 30 October.
The decision was taken today by the National Political Council (CPN) of PPEM. "The unanimous vote of the CPN shows that the party is strengthened. The main objective as a candidate for head of state is further modernize the country and strengthen the European path that will lead to filing for Moldova's accession to the EU", said the PPEM’s Chairman Iurie Leanca.
Today, PPEM will submit the application to the Central Election Commission for registration of the initiative group to collect signatures in support of candidate for the position of the President of Moldova.
Today started the campaign for direct presidential elections. Within the day, more political parties submitted their nominations to the President of the country, these include PSRM - Igor Dodon, PL – Mihai Ghimpu, Partidului Platforma Demnitate si Adevar (Party Platform Truth and Dignity) – Andrei Nastase, Partidul Nostru (Our Party) – Dmitri Ciubasenco.
