Twenty fifth edition of Book Fair Bookfest in Chisinau, Moldova

Chisinau, 31 August /MOLDPRES/ – At MOLDEXPO International Exhibition Centre opened today firstly, the XXVth edition of International Book Fair – Bookfest Chisinau, for the period of 31 August – 4 September.

The event is organized in the context of the celebration of the 25th anniversary of Moldova's Independence, the Ministry of Culture of the Republic of Moldova in partnership with the Romanian Cultural Institute, Institute "Eudoxiu Hurmuzachi" for Diaspora, the National Library, the Union of Publishers in Moldova and Publishers’ Association of Romania.

Asked by MOLDPRES, the Minister of Culture Monica Babuc said that this year's edition of the Fair takes place for the first time together with the Bookfest Book Fair in Romania.

According to her, the International Book Fair, now in the XXVth edition, comes this year to reaffirm the European aspirations of Moldova’s cultural industries and strengthen successful partnerships established with Romania. "This is a celebration of the book of knowledge on the threshold of autumn," said Monica Babuc.

The President of the Romanian Publishers’ Association, Grigore Arsene stressed that he wanted the project to become sustainable. "I came with Romanian book quality at low prices by 40-45 percent. We hope it will be successful," said Grigore Arsene.

According to writer Nicolae Busuioc in Iasi, Romania, MOLDPEXO has more space, is airy and ennobled. "Here even books seem different. It is a great idea of ​​bringing in Chisinau the Book Fair Bookfest," noted Nicolae Busuioc.

At the XXVth edition of the International Book Fair Bookfest in Chisinau participate 44 publishers, 23 from Moldova and 21 come from Romania.
