Chisinau, 31 August /MOLDPRES/ – The Chairman of Partidul Actiune si Solidaritate (PAS) (Action and Solidarity Party) Maia Sandu, was named today as the party's candidate for the presidential elections of 30 October.
According to PAS’s Press Service, the decision was taken on 31 August by the National Political Council (CPN) of the party. At the same time, it also decided the establishment of the initiative group for signature collection for Maia Sandu.
"I call on you today, the present, and all Moldovan citizens: let us start from here, from the presidential institution, cleaning politicians and regaining independence of Moldova! I make this call because I know what to do! And what needs to be acted! Moldova needs a President of citizens, not expired politicians. A President elected by the citizens, one in which people trust, who has all power to change things according to law in a constitutional framework, and who can get out the state of captivity," said PAS President, Maia Sandu.
However, PAS has confirmed once again "commitment to joint nomination of the candidate at the appropriate time, based on the opinions of citizens," said the same source.
Based on the CPN decision, the leader of PAS, Maia Sandu, head of the initiative group, Igor Grosu, and other members of PAS, will go today to the Central Election Commission to submit the necessary documents and the list of members of the initiative group.
