Initiative groups wanted by three candidates for presidency in Moldova

Chisinau, 1 September /MOLDPRES/ – Three candidates for President of Moldova today requested initiative groups’ registration to collect signatures in their support.
According to the Central Election Commission’s (CEC) press service, they are: Marian Lupu – the candidate nominated by the Democratic Party of Moldova (PDM), Mihai Corj and Artur Croitor – individual applicants.
Within three days from the receipt of the documents submitted, the CEC shall verify the accuracy of the requests and decide on registration or refusal of registration of initiative groups.
The period for submitting applications for registration of initiative groups to support candidates for head of state ends on 9 September.
On 31 August 2016, six other parties applied for initiative groups registration to collect signatures in support of candidates in the presidential elections. These are: PSRM – Igor Dodon, PL – Mihai Ghimpu, PPEM – Iurie Leanca, Partidul Platforma Demnitate si Adevar (Party Platform Truth and Dignity) – Andrei Nastase, Partidul Actiune si Solidaritate (Action and Solidarity Party) – Maia Sandu and Partidul Nostru (Our Party) – Dmitri Ciubasenco.
