Moldovan Unionists' leader nominated as candidate for presidential elections

Chisinau, 2 September /MOLDPRES/- The leader of Unionist Party “Dreapta” (Right), Ana Gutu, was nominated as a candidate for the presidential elections, due on 30 October.
According to the party’s press service, the decision was taken unanimously by the formation’s Republican Council. “Ana Gutu thanked the colleagues for trust and requested support of all party members and supporters to organize a correct election campaign, in line with the party’s main goal – Moldova’s unification with Romania,” the source said.
“Next days the party will submit documents on collecting signatures to the Central Election Commission (CEC). At the same time, the members of the Republic Council delegated by vote proxies the political bureau to take decisions on party’s actions in the presidential elections depending on changing electoral conjuncture,” the press service said.
Ana Gutu is a philologist, translator, professor of French Language and Literature. Presently, she serves as first deputy rector of the Free International University of Moldova, deputy head of university senate, head of university educational board. She was MP of parliament.
Previously, other seven formations and two independent candidates asked CEC for registration of initiative groups on collecting signatures for supporting candidates for presidential elections. It is about: Party of Socialists – Igor Dodon, Liberal Party – Mihai Ghimpu, Democratic Party – Marian Lupu, European People’s Party of Moldova – Iurie Leanca, Dignity and Truth Platform Party –Andrei Nastase, Action and Solidarity Party – Maia Sandu and Our Party –Dmitri Ciubasenco, Mihai Corj and Artur Croitor –individual applicants.
