At National Library takes place Day of Embassies in Moldova

Chisinau, 2 September /MOLDPRES/ - Within the frame of the International Book Fair, XXVth edition - Bookfest Chisinau, today was held the Day of Embassies at the National Library.

The event was attended by representatives of diplomatic corps accredited in Chisinau, librarians, writers, journalists and readers.

Requested by the Agency, head of institution world literature service, Elina Bolgarina, said that the event became traditional and took place for the tenth time at the Book Fair.

According to her, Embassies day usually begins with opening of an exhibition of foreign literature, which is then donated to the library. This year the exhibition was attended by Embassies of Bulgaria, Czech Republic, China, France, Great Britain, Poland and Russia.

In her speech BNRM director, Elena Pintilei emphasized that every year, library collections are filled with foreign literature due to the fruitful cooperation of institution with embassies in Chisinau.

Attending the event, Ambassador of China in Moldova Zhang Yinghong said that literature donated by the embassy (in total 600 books) relate to history, politics, economy and culture of China. "We hope that through these books, Moldovans will know better and we will love our country," said Zhang Yinghong.

Polish Ambassador in Chisinau, Artur Michalski said that more than 80 books were donated by the Book Institute in Krakow, popularizing Polish literature abroad.

Under International Book Fair edition XXV - Bookfest Chisinau, Romania donated more than 3000 books to the National Library and public libraries in the country.
