Moldovan government plans actions to improve socio-economic in Gagauzia

Chisinau, 2 September /MOLDPRES/ - The working group consists of representatives of ministries and authorities in Comrat, led by Deputy Prime Minister Octavian Calmic, Minister of Economy, finalized the Action Plan for improving the social-economic situation in the Autonomous Territorial Unit of Gagauzia for 2016-2019, set to develop and modernize the region. The document has to be submitted to Government's approval.

Octavian Calmic said the document aimed to eliminate distortions of economic, increasing exports, attracting remittances, increased inflow of foreign direct investment, boosting the development of small and medium enterprises in the region and reducing the number of unemployed, including from returning migrants, the press service of ME has said.

"The plan provides actions in the short, medium and long term, targeting preventing the further deepening of the economic crisis, the national economy back on an upward path and ensuring the prerequisites for balanced economic development," the Deputy Prime Minister emphasized.

Among the actions to be implemented include the implementation of the State Program to study the state language, including preschools, creating the strategic regional development in developing Gagauzia regions, development and rehabilitation of infrastructure and environmental autonomy, annual allocation of financial resources for capital investments and development principles of proportionality and equity, promoting domestic and foreign wine companies in Gagauzia. The document also states that in the coming years, to be capital repaired several sections of hospitals in Comrat, Ceadir-Lunga and Vulcanesti and urgent medical assistance points in several areas, etc.

Some of the immediate and short term actions do not require additional financial resources other than those budgeted and funded through sectoral programs of development partners. For actions involving additional costs and are projected for the second year of implementation, central administrative authorities and institutions are responsible to plan the next cycle means, necessary medium-term budgetary planning. Also, it will be undertaken for attracting external assistance from development partners to ensure Action Plan provisions full implementation.
