Moldovan election commission registers initiative groups submitted by five candidates for presidential election

Chisinau, 4 September /MOLDPRES/- The Central Election Commission (CEC) today registered initiative groups for collecting signatures to support other five candidates for the 30 October presidential election.

It is about Ana Gutu, a candidate nominated by the Political Party "Dreapta" (the Right), Valeriu Ghiletchi, Ion Dron, Oleg Brega and Roman Mihaies - independent candidates.

CEC head Alina Russa said that subscription lists and identity cards would be issued for the initiative groups. "Subsequently, collecting signatures will start to support the candidates for the president position. The initiative groups are to collect signatures a minimum of 15,000 voters of at least half of the number of second-level administrative-territorial units of Moldova (at least 18). They will be submitted to CEC before 29 September," Russu said.

The period for submitting the applications on registration of initiative groups will finish on 9 September.

Two days ago, CEC registered the initiative groups for collecting signatures to support the first nine candidates for the presidential election. It is about: the Party of Socialists - Igor Dodon, Democratic Party - Marian Lupu, Liberal Party - Mihai Ghimpu, European People's Party of Moldova - Iurie Leanca, Dignity and Truth Platform Party - Andrei Nastase, Action and Solidarity Party - Maia Sandu and Our Party - Dmitri Ciubasenco, Miahi Corj and Artur Croitor - individual applicants. At the same time, Lupu presented the subscription lists with signatures collected for his support on 3 September.
