Moldovan prime minister requires pharmaceutical Action Plan expedite implementation

Chisinau, 5 September /MOLDPRES/ - Prime Minister Pavel Filip convened representatives of institutions responsible for implementing the Action Plan for solving problems in the pharmaceutical field to discuss punctually, backlog acts and ways of removing impediments to their implementation, the government’s communication and media relations department has reported.
The prime minister outlined that the government team's main objective in this area is to be provided order on the medicine market and citizens to benefit from freer access to quality medicines at reasonable prices. According to the Medicines and Medical Devices Agency, in August were only allowed on the market approximately 300 new pharmaceutical products, the total number of medicines reaching 4,400 articles included in the Catalogue.
At the same time, Pavel Filip was displeased that several actions included in the Plan have not been realized so far. One of the most important goals was to increase by 50 per cent to state subsidized medicines. The Prime Minister asked the Ministry of Health and the National Health Insurance Company that by the end of September this year to be approved and published the new list of subsidized medicines.
Another point of the meeting related the formation and registration of medicines prices, being identified several problems that delayed processes. In this context, Premier requested to be clearly delineated tasks of the Ministry of Health and the Agency for Medicines and Medical Devices to avoid delays. In this respect there has to be approved a bill.
Also, the prime minister asked to be taken all necessary measures to ensure the functioning of centralized procurement of medicines at national level, but also to intensify communication activity in this segment. The prime minister believes that both professionals, as well as patients and care recipients, must be informed correctly and completely about Government's programs in this area.
