CEC registers initiative groups of two presidential elections candidates

Chisinau, 6 September /MOLDPRES/ - Central Election Commission (CEC) registered at the meeting today, initiative groups to collect signatures in support of the other two candidates in the presidential elections of 30 October this year.
These are: Ilie Rotaru and Vitalia Pavlicenco – independent candidates.
Alina Russu, CEC Chairman said that today all the initiative groups will be issued identification cards and subscription lists. "It will then begin the process of collecting signatures in support of candidates for President of the country. The initiative groups will collect signatures of not less than 15 thousand voters in at least half of the administrative-territorial units of the Republic of Moldova (at least 18). They will be submitted to CEC until 29 September," said Russu.
The period for submitting applications for registration of initiative groups to support candidates for head of state will end on 9 September.
Earlier, CEC registered more initiative groups to collect signatures in support of the fourteen candidates in the presidential elections. They are: PSRM – Igor Dodon, PDM – Marian Lupu, PL – Mihai Ghimpu, PPEM – Iurie Leanca, Partidul Platforma Demnitate si Adevar (Party Platform Dignity and Truth) – Andrei Nastase, Partidul Actiune si Solidaritate (Action and Solidarity Party) – Maia Sandu and Partidul Nostru (Our Party) – Dmitri Ciubasenco. Also, PDM candidate Marian Lupu and PL candidate Mihai Ghimpu have already submitted to CEC petitions containing the signatures collected in their support.
