Japan offers modern medical equipment for more hospitals in Moldova

Chisinau, 7 September /MOLDPRES/ - Modern equipment provided by the Government of Japan will function in more hospitals of Moldova.

Deputy Minister on Foreign Affairs of Japan Motome Takisawa and Ambassador of Japan in Chisinau Masanobu Zoshii had a working visit at the Institute of Emergency Medicine to monitor if the offered equipment had been distributed and installed within the institution.

"Moldova benefited assistance to improve quality of medical services. The Government of Japan will keep on supporting your country's medicine system development. We hope this project to lead to strengthening relationships between our countries," declared Motome Takisawa.

Health Minister Ruxandra Glavan, referred that institutions which received modern equipment are: Republican Hospital, Institute of Mother and Child, Institute of Oncology, Municipal Hospital Sfinta Treime (Holy Trinity), National Center for Public Health, and territorial public health centers in Chisinau, Balti, Edinet, Soroca, Ungheni, Orhei, Hincesti, Causeni, Cahul and Comrat.

"Financing the project took place under an agreement between the governments of Moldova and Japan, signed in July 2013. Already in November 2014, a large part of equipment was delivered. Most of the devices were in use, others will become operational shortly. Also, in October will start the first training stage to surgeons to use these technologies. The total value of equipment provided under this project is about MDL 800 million/USD 40 million," said Glavan.

Over the last four years, only Emergency Medicine Institute supplemented thanks to this project, the technical potential of more efficient equipment including: computerized tomography, nuclear magnetic resonance, angiography, ultrasound and radiological devices. Medical equipment is totally worth about MDL 140 million, and patients can receive their services for free.
