Moldovan government approves national pogramme on development of emergency medical assistance for 2016-2020

Chisinau, 7 September /MOLDPRES/- The cabinet today approved a national programme on development of emergency medical care for 2016-2020. The document sees strengthening and modernising the emergency service, as well as creating an integrated system for granting aid in emergency cases, the government's communication and media relations department has reported.
The programme is meant to improve people access to emergency medical services, to increase the chances of patient survival, as well as providing quality services for people.
The authorities also are committed to increase capabilities of the emergency medical assistance service till 2020, as well as to ensure its functioning in integrated regime with other specialised emergency services. At the same time, the medical staff skills will be diversified, and the people will be instructed on the methods of providing first aid.
At the same time, the government recommends the local public authorities to take measures to increase accessibility and efficiency of emergency healthcare service to promptly react to requests.
The costs necessary for implementing the national programme on development of emergency medical assistance for 2016-2020 are amounting to nearly 2.3 billion lei. The financial resources will be earmarked from the state budget and programmes on financial support on behalf of foreign partners.
