Japanese embassy in Moldova inaugurated yesterday

Chisinau, 8 September /MOLDPRES/- The Japanese Embassy in Moldova was officially inaugurated in Chisinau on 7 September.

Attending the event were President Nicolae Timofti, Deputy Speaker Liliana Palihovici, Parliamentary Vice-Minister for Foreign Affairs of Japan Motome Takisawa, Japanese Ambassador to Moldova Masanobu Yoshii, representatives of diplomatic staff, as well as other officials.

Timofti said that “opening embassies in Chisinau and Tokyo will facilitate significantly amplifying and turning to good account the friendship and cooperation relations between both states. We welcome the support of projects on healthcare, education, culture and science – key-sectors of Moldovan nation. In the context, I reiterate Moldova’s willingness to further promote drawing investments and boosting economic exchanges,” Timofti said.

“Our countries share common values, such as: the rule of law, respect for parents and family, role of citizen in society, desire to be eager for development and harmonious life. Thus, after inauguration of the Japanese embassy in Chisinau, the trust relations between our states will ensure more the mutual support for the main problems,” Palihovici said.

Motome Takisawa noted that “inauguration of Japanese embassy in Chisinau marks a new stage in development of relations between the two countries, and my country is open for expanding projects launched in Moldova, as well as for investments with Japanese capital.”

“This year, when Moldova celebrates 25 years of independence, we give a stronger impetus to the economic and cultural relations by opening the Japanese Embassy in Chisinau. A new chapter begins in history of Moldovan-Japanese relations,” Masanobu Yoshii said.

Japan is the third donor of Moldova (after the U.S.A. and EU). So far, Japan has offered nonrefundable financial assistance amounting to over 92 million dollars and lending assistance worth over 108 million dollars.
