State Committee approves National Defense Strategy draft of Moldova  

Chisinau, 9 September /MOLDPRES/ – State Committee for National Strategy of Defense (SNA) today approved unanimously the given document draft.

Defence Minister Anatol Salaru, Chairman of SNA development, said the strategy is a guide for directly involved representatives of institutions in providing defence and a manual for Moldovan citizens. "SNA comes to interrupt a period of serious absence in defence and is a starting point for a series of actions to reform, modernization and adaptation of defence system to new geopolitical context," said the Defence Minister.

The Strategic Defence Reform team chief, responsible for implementing the package of capacity building assistance under the Defence (DCB), Keith A. Dunn, said that document draft is a first step in reforming the defense sector. According to him, there is to expand Military Strategy - a document that should include a thorough analysis of real needs for the military, armed forces structure and budget coverings.

Keith A. Dunn also said that the team of experts will continue to provide assistance and expertise to the Ministry of Defence in DCB package.

According to Aurel Fondos, State Secretary of Defence Ministry, SNA project was reviewed and debated in public by security and defence experts from the associative and academic societies. with includimg recommendations into Strategy for document improving.
