Moldovan CEC registers other initiative groups submitted by eight Presidential candidates

Chisinau, 10 September /MOLDPRES/ - The Central Election Commission (CEC) registered at the today meeting, initiative groups to collect signatures in support of eight other candidates in the presidential elections of 30 October this year.

They are independent candidates: Vadim Brinzan, Silvia Radu, Anatol Plugaru, Vasile Tarlev, Maia Laguta and Georgeta Savitchi. Also, Inna Popenco, appointed by Republican Socio-Political Movement "Ravnopravie" and Mihail Garbuz, appointed Party "Patriotii Moldovei" (Patriots of Moldova).

Alina Russu, CEC Chairman, noted that today all the initiative groups will be issued identification cards and lists of districts. "It will then begin the process of collecting signatures in support of candidates for President of Moldova. The initiative groups will collect signatures of not less than 15 thousand voters in at least half of the administrative-territorial units of the Republic of Moldova (at least 18). They will be submitted to CEC until 29 September," said Russu.

However, Russu said that members of initiative groups can benefit from free training in CEC's electoral Training Center.

Earlier, CEC registered initiative groups to collect signatures in support of the 16 candidates in the presidential election. They include Igor Dodon - PSRM, Marian Lupu - PDM, Mihai Ghimpu - PL, Iurie Leanca - PPEM, Andrei Nastase - Party Platform Dignity and Truth, Maia Sandu - Action and Solidarity Party and Dmitri Ciubasenco - Our Party. However, PDM candidate Marian Lupu, PL candidate Mihai Ghimpu and Iurie Leanca, PPEM candidate  already submitted to CEC petitions containing the signatures collected in their support.
