Moldova, China to start consultations on signing Free Trade Agreement till late 2016

Chisinau, 13 September /MOLDPRES/ - Moldova and China till late 2016 will initiate negotiations on the working out and signing of a free trade agreement between the two states. Deputy Prime Minister, Economics Minister Octavian Calmic and Chinese Commerce Minister Gao Hucheng reached an agreement to this end in Beijing on 12 September.  

The Economics Ministry’s press service has reported that, according to the sides, the signing of such a document would facilitate the trade and economic ties between the two countries, would allow initiating and implementing investment projects with participation of companies from Moldova and China.

In the context, Minister Gao Hucheng stressed that the development of commercial and economic relations with Moldova, which has a quite favourable geographical position, represented one of the priorities of more Chinese companies, which intended to extend their business both in Moldova and on the European market.

Also, the Chinese official noted that the signing of such an agreement would open new opportunities not only to develop the relations between the two states, but also to launch successful bilateral projects. Gao Hucheng said the Chinese side was ready to back investment projects in different fields, including the energy sector, transport and technical assistance in developing the communications infrastructure from Moldova for the public sector and subsequently the private one, etc.

For his part, Minister Octavian Calmic specified that the development of the bilateral relations with China was a priority trend, as it gives Moldovan companies new possibilities to promote native products, establish new partnership relations, etc.
