Moldovan PM says foreign assistance to be used efficiently, transparently

Chisinau, 15 September /MOLDPRES/ – Prime Minister Pavel Filip and Head of EU Delegation in Chisinau Pirkka Tapiola today had a meeting, during which they discussed the collaboration between the government of Moldova and EU, as well as the Moldovan-EU cooperation perspectives on the next period. Attending the meeting were also representatives of the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development and European Investment Bank, the government’s communication and media relations department has reported.
Pavel Filip thanked for the EU’s support to Moldova and expressed the government's openness for close cooperation with European partners, to ensure an effective implementation of joint projects. "I wish the funds to be used exactly where necessary, ensuring their efficient management. We are open and expect you to help us achieve this together," the prime minister said.
The prime minister gave assurances that the government team was determined to promote the needed reforms, even if they are not popular, to re-establish the relations with foreign donors and ensure sustainable development of Moldova. Pavel Filip pointed out that the external assistance funding would be spent as efficiently and transparently as possible.
The officials exchanged views on the social and political situation in Moldova, analyzing the government's priorities for the concerned period, and set tasks to achieve the objectives aimed at promoting reform and modernizing the country.
In particular, the sides discussed the carrying out of a project on modernization of Moldova’s Railroads, the ones related to infrastructure, strengthening the state institutions' capacities, business environment development, law-enforcement institutions' reform. The officials paid particular attention to the need to establish clear priorities of development and managing the resources earmarked.
