Moldovan PM meets Kyrgyz president in Bishkek

Chisinau, 16 September /MOLDPRES/- Prime Minister Pavel Filip had a meeting with President of the Kyrgyz Republic Almazbek Atambaev, on the sidelines of a meeting of the Council of Heads of State of the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS), held in Bishkek today, the government’s communication and media relations department has reported.

The two officials reviewed the main issues of the relations between Moldova and the Kyrgyz Republic, as well as cooperation within the international organizations, the two states are members of.

Pavel Filip thanked Almazbek Atambaev for organising the meeting of the council of CIS presidents and for warm welcome of participants in the event. The PM expressed Moldova’s interest in deepening the Moldovan-Kyrgyz relations in the political and economic sectors, in particular, opting for boosting the Moldovan wine export to the Kyrgyz Republic.

For his part, Atambaev noted that his country was open for a constructive dialogue with Moldova, in order to develop a mutually advantageous partnership in the agricultural, industrial and information technology sectors. The Kyrgyz head of state pointed out he was a good friend of Moldova and spoke out for deepening the bilateral relations and interaction within the international organisations.

The sides approached possibilities to turn to good account the commercial potential, taking into account the opportunities provided by the European Union for Moldova, in line with the EU-Moldova Association Agreement, as well as possibilities of the Kyrgyz Republic within the Eurasian Economic Union. Also, the officials highlighted the need to increase mutual investments and export of goods from the two states.
