Moldovan foreign minister meets Russian counterpart

Chisinau, 16 September /MOLDPRES/ - Deputy Prime Minister, Foreign and European Integration Minister Andrei Galbur has had a meeting with Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov, on the sidelines of a meeting of the Council of Foreign Ministers of the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS) countries, the Foreign and European Integration Ministry’s information and media communication service has reported.      

At the meeting, the two ministers tackled a string of subjects on the present stage and prospects for the Moldovan-Russian bilateral ties. The sides positively appreciated the resumption of the political dialogue and reiterated mutual interest in overcoming the present problems and difficulties in the relations between the two countries as soon as possible.   

The officials also welcomed the recent re-launch of the five-plus-two negotiations to identify a political solution to the Transnistrian problem, by observing the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Moldova and adopting a special legal status for the Transnistrian region.
