Chisinau, 16 September /MOLDPRES/ - The Embassy of Slovakia to Moldova today donated a new ambulance to the Penitentiary Hospital No 16 Pruncul, meant to escort sick inmates from the jail to civil hospitals in emergencies.
According to the press service of the Penitentiary Institutions Department (DIP), this was possible due to an agreement signed between DIP and the Slovak Agency for International Development Cooperation in 2015, when a project, Ambulances for DIP of Moldova, was launched.
DIP acting director Igor Guja thanked the guests for the support provided, noting that “the Moldovan penitentiary system needs to be endowed with more performing vehicles, to achieve the European standards.”
For his part, Slovak Ambassador to Moldova Robert Kirnag said that “this ambulance will save more lives and the cooperation between the two states will continue.”
The Slovak Embassy in Moldova has recently donated ten ambulances to the Chisinau-based Emergency Medicine Institute.
