Platform DA leader is registered as candidate for president of Moldova

Chisinau, 18 September /MOLDPRES/ – The leader of Platform Party Dignity and Truth (PPDA) Andrei Nastase was registered today by the Central Election Commission (CEC) in the election campaign of the President of Moldova.
The PPDA’s leader will occupy the fourth position on the ballot at the presidential elections of 30 October.
According to CEC member Vasile Gafton, "The Commission for verification received 729 petitions with over 20,600 signatures in support of PPDA candidate. Of the total number of signatures, around two thousand were declared null," said Gafton.
"Following checking, it was established that over 18 thousand signatures would be considered valid and meet the legal requirements to support the candidate for the President of Moldova, if complying with the requirements set limit. At the same time, CEC noted that the initiative group supporting the candidate complied with the requirements and submitted financial report, being given donations worth 650 and expenses of 400 lei," said CEC’s secretary.
The CEC Chairman Alina Russu, said that "under the law, a candidate can start campaigning process only commencing 30 September this year".
Previously, PDM candidate Marian Lupu, PL candidate Mihai Ghimpu and PPEM Iurie Leanca submitted to CEC petitions with signatures collected in their support. All three were registered by CEC during the election campaign for President of the Republic of Moldova.
CEC registered 24 initiative groups to gather signatures in candidates’ support forwarded to the President of Moldova, since the election period’s start. Some of these are: Marian Lupu – PDM, Mihai Ghimpu – PL, Igor Dodon – PSRM, Iurie Leanca – PPEM, Andrei Nastase – Party Platform Dignity and Truth (PPDA), Maia Sandu – Action and Solidarity Party (PAS) and Dmitri Ciubasenco – Our Party.
