About 40 wine-making companies to participate in National Wine Day

Chisinau, 19 September /MOLDPRES/- About 40 wine-making companies will participate in National Wine Day on the Great National Assembly Square on 1-2 October.
In 2016, the event is organized by the National Wine and Vine Office (ONVV), Agriculture and Food Industry Ministry, with support of event’s strategic partner, USAID (United States Agency for International Development) Moldova Competitiveness Enhancement Project.
Deputy Agriculture and Food Minister Vasile Luca noted that the event would take place under one country brand “Moldovan wine. A living legend”. “We will continue Moldova’s promotion as a country producing wines of the highest quality this year as well. Local wineries will make people happy with beverages from harvest of 2015, collection and reserve wines, as well as products launched within the national holiday for the first time ever. Therefore, we are waiting for everybody to come to taste the Moldovan wine and millennium-old wine-making traditions of our people,” Luca said.
"This year holiday will be titled: "Human - Wine Soul". Producers will display over 400 wines for sale and tasting. A special feature of the event will be the Wine Road, representing topic-related tours from the heart of the capital to the origins of quality wines from the country. Another pillar of the event will be Wine School, which will provide subject-related seminars presented by sommeliers experts on different topics: from bases of correct tasting to sophisticated tastings one for initiated consumers,” ONVV director Gheorghe Arpentin said.
“Traditionally the event will include an artistic show. Thus, bands, orchestras, fanfare and folk music bands from the three wine regions of Moldova: Valul lui Traian, Codru and Ștefan Voda, will perform in the Great National Assembly Square. Moldovan traditional food, as well as a fair of craftsmen will be displayed at the show. Also, works with motifs inspired from grapes, wine and vine, handmade by craftsmen will be exhibited,” Arpentin said.
This is the 15th issue of National Wine Day. The event’s budget this year is estimated at 2.3 million lei.
