Moldovan meteorologists forecast frost for next days

Chisinau, 19 September /MOLDPRES/ - The State Hydrometeorological Service (SHS) today informed about an Yellow Code of unstable weather, due to maintain on 21-24 September.
According to the weather forecasters, the beginning of this week will be marked by a sharp change of the weather, with short thunderstorm rains. ‘On 20 September, heavy rains are expected (25-35 litres/square metre in 12 hours) and on 20-21 September, the north-western wind will blow strongly, gusting to 15-20 metres/second. The maximal air temperature will drop to 13-18 Celsius degrees,” according to a SHS communiqué.
At the same time, the Hydrometeorological Service announced that, on 21-24 September, soil frost of -1 - -2 Celsius degrees was expected in the morning.
Specialists said that the weather conditions provided for by the Yellow Code were potentially dangerous; the forecast meteorological phenomena (showers, thunderstorms, wind gusting, high or low temperatures, risks of increases in levels of rivers and creeks, etc.) are usual for Moldova and may temporarily become dangerous for certain social and economic activities.
For their part, farmers said that field crops were less hit by early autumn frost, having a lower sensibility to frost on these periods.
