Moldovan, American officials discuss cooperation in security, defence sector

Chisinau, 21 September /MOLDPRES/- Deputy Foreign and European Integration Minister Lilian Darii met U.S. Deputy Assistant Secretary of Defence Michael Carpenter on 20 September, in the context of participation in the 71st session of the United Nations General Assembly, held in New York, the Foreign and European Integration Ministry’s information and media relations service has reported.

The officials exchanged opinions about the agenda of bilateral relations, regional security, evolutions in the Transnistrian conflict settlement and Moldovan-American cooperation in security and defence sector.

Darii thanked the American partners for support in reforming defence sector in Moldova and highly appreciated US willingness to deepen cooperation with Moldova in the security and defence sector.

For his part, Michael Carpenter reiterated the United States’ support for the reform efforts in the security and defence sector, as well as for territorial integrity and sovereignty of Moldova.
