Bulgaria likely to invest in information technology, communications sector in Moldova

Chisinau, 21 September /MOLDPRES/ - Prime Minister Pavel Filip and President of Bulgaria Rosen Plevneliev discussed the Moldovan-Bulgarian relations, prospects for deepening the bilateral cooperation, as well as the implementation of Moldova’s European agenda at a meeting, in the context of the two officials’ participation in the 71st session of the UN General Assembly, held in New York, the government’s communication and media relations department has reported.
The sides tackled the development of the economic ties and carrying out joint projects in different sectors. In this respect, they welcomed the successful holding of the eighth meeting of the Moldovan-Bulgarian inter-governmental commission for commercial and economic cooperation.
Prime Minister Pavel Filip said that the Moldovan authorities were treating with responsibility the representatives of the Bulgarian ethnic minority and their wish to preserve and develop their own national identity, taking into account the large number of ethnic Bulgarians living in Moldova. Thus, a possibility is considered to open a consulate of Bulgaria in Taraclia, which will contribute to developing the bilateral relations, and will also help the residents from Moldova’s southern region to better know the advantages of the European integration and back this way.
For his part, the Bulgarian president reconfirmed Bulgaria’s support for Moldova’s European integration and implementing of the reforms in the country. Rosen Plevneliev said that Moldova and Bulgaria were partner and friendly countries and expressed the Bulgarian side’s willingness to invest in diverse fields in Moldova, such as the information technology and communications sector (ITC), constructions, energy area. The Bulgarian president noted that his country had created an innovational ecosystem in the ITC sector in the region, massively invested in the ITC field in Ukraine and was willing to extend in Moldova too. Prime Minister Pavel Filip informed the Bulgarian official about the entrance into force of the law on IT parks starting from 2017, thus quite attractive conditions being created for ITC companies and invited Bulgarian business people to invest in this sector.
