Moldovan, American officials discuss cooperation relations

Chisinau, 22 September /MOLDPRES/- Prime Minister Pavel Filip had a meeting with Under Secretary for Public Diplomacy and Public Affairs of U.S. Department of State Richard Stengel in the context of the participation in the 71st session of UN General Assembly, held in New York, the government’s communication and media relations department has reported.
The officials exchanged opinions about topical issues on the agenda of bilateral relations, media situation in Moldova and reforms promoted in audiovisual sector, as well as new areas of cooperation within the Moldovan-American bilateral dialogue.
Thus, Filip informed American partners about the actions taken by the government in promoting media freedom and pluralism of opinions in Moldova. At the same time, he proposed to include new areas of interest in the Moldovan-American cooperation, referring to securing information space and combating challenges to the local media space. The initiative was welcomed by the high American official.
For his part, Richard Stengel welcomed the achievements recorded by the current government in implementing the commitments and reiterated the United States’ full support for carrying out the reform programme, including in media field.
