Chisinau, 22 September /MOLDPRES/ – The leader of Action and Solidarity Party (PAS) Maia Sandu submitted today to the Central Election Commission (CEC) lists collected with signatures in her support for the presidential elections, due on 30 October 2016.

According to CEC, PAS leader presented about 25 thousand out of 27 thousand of collected signatures. "It was a very useful experience for us because we could find out what people think and what expectations they have from us. Impediments have not really occurred, only in Orhei the lists were detained for five days for the reason that some citizens would have signed for another candidate list too," said Maia Sandu.

PAS leader said that this campaign will be guided by the idea that "Moldova needs a new political class and the presidential election may be the first step towards this change. We need people of integrity, honest professionals and that concern people's interests," said Sandu.

Following the procedure, the Commission must check within the seven days the set of documents submitted and decide whether to enter the party candidate in the electoral competition or not.

So far, CEC signed up as candidates for presidential elections four candidates: Marian Lupu – PDM (Democratic Party of Moldova), Mihai Ghimpu – PL (Liberal Party), Iurie Leanca – PPEM (People’s European Party of Moldova) and Andrei Nastase – PPDA (Party Platform Dignity and Truth).

Since the beginning of the election period, CEC registered 24 initiative groups to collect signatures in support of candidates proposed to the position of the President of the Republic of Moldova, to submit till 29 September, the set of documents and petitions containing the signatures collected in their support.
