Moldovan deputy premier attends high-level event on civil crisis management

Chisinau, 23 September /MOLDPRES/- Deputy Prime Minister, Foreign and European Integration Minister Andrei Galbur participated in a high-level event focused on civil crisis management force and capacity building of the OSCE as organization acting in terms of chapter 8 of the UN Charter, on 22 September. The event was organized by German presidency of the OSCE in the context of the 71st session of the UN General Assembly, the Foreign and European Integration Ministry’s information and media relations service has reported.
The talks moderated by OSCE Chairperson-in-Office Frank-Walter Steinmeier were focused on identifying ways for boosting cooperation between UN and OSCE in order to consolidate civil crisis management capabilities.
Galbur expressed Moldova’s support for developing the OSCE capacities to carry out peacekeeping operations at civil level in the context of efforts for settling conflicts in the OSCE area.
Touching upon the Transnistrian conflict settlement, the officials reconfirmed the need to launch a constructive dialogue on transforming the current peacekeeping operations in Security Zone of Moldova into a civil multinational mission under OSCE mandate.
