Moldova to receive ten million dollars to develop agro-food sector

Chisinau, 23 September /MOLDPRES/ - The parliament at a today’s meeting adopted a draft law on ratification of an agreement on financing (second additional financing) between Moldova and the International Development Association, in order to carry out the Moldova Agricultural Competitiveness Project, signed in Chisinau on 8 July, this year.
The agreement provides for the allocation of a loan worth ten million dollars. The money could be accessed by farmers, to enhance the competitiveness of the agro-food sector through consolidating the management of food security, increasing lands’ productivity by their sustainable management.
Also, the sums will be meant to improve the management of projects and providing of compensations to increase sales. At the same time, the document provides for backing the development of the bee sector and the one of milk collection and processing.
The groups of producers will be able to apply for more grants in a row, within the limit of the maximal ceiling of 350,000 dollars.
The project is to be implemented on the period 1 September 2016 – 30 June 2019.
Also today, the parliament ratified the agreement on financing between the International Development Association and the loan agreement between Moldova and the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development, to carry out a project on modernizing the fiscal administration.
