Moldovan deputy premier meets head of Moldova Office of World Health Organisation

Chisinau, 23 September /MOLDPRES/ - Deputy Prime Minister Gheorghe Balan today had a meeting with the head of the Moldova-based Office of the World Health Organisation (WHO) Haris Hajrulahovic, the Bureau for Reintegration has reported.    

Haris Hajrulahovic informed the deputy prime minister about the health policies promoted by WHO, including through the Moldova Country Office, the organisation’s strategic goals, priority action fields, projects carried out and the ones under implementation, activities carried out, prospects for cooperation, as well as possibilities of extending the assistance in the Transnistrian region, through programmes managed by WHO experts jointly with representatives of the competent national authorities.   

Health Minister Ruxanda Glavan highly appreciated the efficient cooperation in more sectors between the Moldovan Health Ministry and WHO, carried out based on a biannual agreement which defines of the cooperation priorities.

For his part, the deputy prime minister referred to the support provided by  Moldova’s government to residents from the country’s eastern districts, initiatives and concrete activities aimed at improving the situation in terms of public health in the region.

Gheorghe Balan touched upon, in particular, aspects on interaction between Chisinau and Tiraspol experts within the working groups for health care. Balan highlighted the prospects on promotion of initiatives in this respect with the involvement of relevant actors from both banks of Dniester, by observing the platforms of dialogue approved in the negotiating process.  

In the context of the subjects discussed, the sides spoke out for maintaining a constructive and efficient communication in the long run.
