Chisinau, 26 September /MOLDPRES/ - Moldova will receive 15 million euros from the European Union to carry out the public administration reform.

To this end, Prime Minister Pavel Filip and European Commissioner for Neighbourhood Policy and Enlargement Negotiations Johannes Hahn today signed an agreement on financing on a programme on support for the public administration reform in Moldova.

At a news conference, Prime Minister Pavel Filip said that, at the meeting with the EU official, he discussed the reforms’ agenda and the process of Moldova’s integration into the European Union. “The conclusion is that we have advanced both in the fulfillment of the roadmap and the negotiations with the International Monetary Fund (IMF). In continuation, we will focus on the implementation of the packages of laws adopted, in order to achieve visible results,” Filip said.

“At the same time, we will rely on fighting corruption, adoption of a new Audiovisual Code, reformation of the financial and banking sector and the one of public administration. Also, the discussions on the new Association Agenda, compiled for the period 2017-2019, are very important, as this represents the exact steps in the process of rapprochement with EU,” the PM added.

For his part, the European Commissioner confirmed the EU’s determination to back Moldova in its European integration. “We are ready to resume the financing once the agreement with IMF signed, which we hope will happen during next October. Thus, EU expects that Moldova ensures real results and constructive changes in the financial and banking sector, mass media, investigating the bank fraud, as well as in the reformation and depoliticizing of the public administration, which we provided a financial assistance today. We hope that all these will lead to the country’s stabilization and improvement of the citizens’ living,” Johannes Hahn said.

European Commissioner for European Neighbourhood Policy and Enlargement Negotiations Johannes Hahn today pays an official visit to Moldova, within which he will also have a meeting with Parliament Speaker Andrian Candu.

This is the second visit by European Commissioner Johannes Hahn to Moldova. The first by the EU official visit took place on 6 October 2014.
