Moldova to benefit USD 27 mln from USA for economic development

Chisinau, 28 September /MOLDPRES/ – The Federal Government of the United States will allocate about $27 million for activities to support good governance and economic development, increase trade and economic development in the Republic of Moldova.
Prime Minister Pavel Filip and United States Agency for International Development Representative in Moldova Karen Hilliard signed today several agreements in Chisinau.
The press service of the US Embassy in Moldova stated that "activities related to good governance will focus on increasing citizens’ involvement in monitoring the process of decision making by the government, improve transparency and accountability of the judiciary, local public administration improved responsiveness to the citizens’ needs and combating corruption".
At the same time, for increasing investments, the projects will focus on improving competitiveness, business climate, the legal framework, access to loans and agricultural practices.
The press service of the US Embassy said that USAID will provide funds through contracts and grants by implementing partners, who will work in Moldova in the established fields and will report on expenditures and progress towards the objectives determined by each program. At the same time, the United States of America will change the future agreements to include new activities and additional funds in consultation with the Government of Moldova.
