Grand Prize for wine awarded to Castel Mimi company in 2016

Chisinau, 28 September /MOLDPRES/ – The Government today approved a decision on awarding the Grand Prize for wine in 2016 to company "Castel Mimi" (Mimi Castle) for "outstanding achievements in the production of high quality wines and preserve traditions and the excellent quality of native wines." The Bulboaca winemakers also received high appreciation for "promoting the Moldova's image as a wine country on the international arena and contribution to the Moldovan wine tourism’s development ".

"Castle Mimi" company is "one of the main companies in the concerted efforts, consistent modernization and production upgrade, increase of the manufactured products’ quality and expand of the markets," said the Ministry of Agriculture and Food Industry.

In 2014-2016, the company made capital investments and renovated the Constantin Mimi's castle, the last governor of Bessarabia, which became a tourist attraction.

The company’s annual sales amounted in 2015 to 18.7 million lei, 85 per cent of production is exported, 40 per cent of the EU market, 10 per cent in the US and another 50 percent to the CIS market.
