Moldovan electoral body registers three candidates for president position

Chisinau, 29 September /MOLDPRES/- The Central Election Commission (CEC) registered three candidates for president position today.
Under CEC decisions, it is about candidate of Our Party (PN) Dumitru Ciubasenco, of Action and Solidarity Party (PAS) Maia Sandu and of Party of Socialists (PSRM) Igor Dodon.
Thus, Ciubasenco will be sixth on the ballot paper, Maia Sandu – seventh and Dodon – eighth.
CEC member Vladimir Sarban said “the initiative group for supporting PN candidate presented 890 subscription lists with about 25,000 signatures, of which over 23,000 were declared valid. At the same time, the initiative group informed that nearly 477,000 lei had been spent for advertising and promotional materials,” Sarban said.
For his part, CEC member Maxim Lebedinschi said “for supporting PAS candidate, Maia Sandu, 918 subscription lists have been presented with about 25,000 signatures, of which over 22,000 were declared valid. The initiative group reported donations and expenses amounting to about 60,000 lei, meant for advertising and supplies,” he said.
At the same time, CEC member Iurie Ciocan pointed out “for supporting PSRM candidate, Igor Dodon, 862 subscription lists have been submitted to CEC with about 25,000 signatures, of which around 23,000 were declared valid. At the same time, the initiative group reported donations and expenses amounting to 300,000 lei,” he said.
After the registration of candidates, CEC head Alina Russu said that according to legislation, the electoral contenders would be able to start the process of agitation on 30 September.
Also, candidate of Dreapta (Right) Party for president position Ana Gutu submitted to CEC subscription lists with signatures collected for her support. Gutu noted that over 19,000 signatures had been presented.
