Companies repairing roads in Moldova risk penalties if delay works’ execution

Chisinau, 29 September /MOLDPRES/ – The Minister of Transports and Road Infrastructure Iurie Chirinciuc warned companies that have delays in repairing the roads that "in case if they do not mobilize fast to complete the works, they risk to be fined and to terminate their contracts." The process of contracts’ implementation was discussed today during a meeting at the ministry with companies carrying out repairs of the national roads in Moldova.
The press service of the ministry informs that Iurie Chirinciuc requested the road workers to work as more intense, so that at the beginning of the cold period of the year the roads under repair to be able to run under normal conditions and the drivers not to face problems when they drive. As related to the allocation of money for the readymade work, it will not be late to be transferred to business accounts, gave assurance the minister.
Previously, companies repairing portions of roads Hincesti-Leuseni and Chisinau-Ungheni, were fined a thousand euros each day after there were depicted irregularities in their work. According to the Ministry of Transports, currently the biggest delays are registered by companies Evrascon (repairing portions of the Chisinau-Ungheni and Hincesti-Leuseni) and OHL (repairing a portion of the Chisinau-Ungheni, but also road bypass village Bahmut).
Last week the Ministry of Transports and Road Infrastructure started the procedure for terminating the contract with Pa & Co International SRL. The contract with the operator of Romania was signed on 24 March 2014, and work began on 28 August 2014. Under the contract, the works were to be completed until 28 August 2016. By that date, however, it was made only 2.64 per cent the volume works. The Romanian company would carry out repair works on two portions of the road Chisinau-Giurgiulesti.
