Moldovan, Romanian officials discuss bilateral relations

Chisinau, 30 September /MOLDPRES/- Defence Minister Anatol Salaru pays an official visit to Bucharest, Romania. He met Romanian President Klaus Iohannis on 29 September, who said it was important for Moldova to continue European integration and to use potential of benefits derived from relations with EU.
According to a press release by the Romanian presidency, the two officials discussed perspectives for developing bilateral cooperation at levels of common interest, including security and defence, and Moldova’s European integration.
Iohannis highlighted the importance Romania paid to Moldova, reflected in the constant support within the bilateral partnership relations. At the same time, he noted that it was necessary for Moldova to prove determination in meeting the European commitments and to continue efforts for strengthening national institutions in order to acquire more predictability and credibility at European level.
For his part, Salaru pointed out the national efforts taken in European path and voiced confidence on continuing this path of strategic importance for Moldova.
Iohannis and Salaru exchanged opinions about development of security situation in the region.
Salaru is on an official visit to Romania on 29-30 September, following an invitation of his counterpart, Mihnea Ioan Motoc. The two officials tackled development of bilateral relations between the military institutions of the two states.
