Chisinau, 30 September /MOLDPRES/- More customs officers have been detained following inspections made by officers of the National Anticorruption Centre (CNA) at the customs checkpoints Palanca and Tudora, south-eastern Moldova. The CNA press officer, Angela Starinschi, confirmed the information for MOLDPRES.
“More customs officers have been detained so far. The operation is underway; searches are made at two customs offices, as well as at homes of customs employees. We will come up with more details later on,” Starinschi noted.
Director of the Customs Service (SV) Vitalie Vrabie said the searches took place based on operative information provided by the SV Internal Security Department to law-enforcement institutions.
“We abstain from any comments; yet, we will come back with official statements after the operation started by inquirers is finished. At the same time, we voice regret about the extension of the waiting time at the two border checkpoints, triggered by an objective situation. We do our utmost, so that the crossing of the border checkpoints Palanca and Tudora is streamlined. To this end, we have instructed to bring additional staff from other shifts, and if necessary, we will bring staff from other subdivisions as well,” reads a press release issued by the Customs Service.
