Moldovan PM says government remains ally of vine-growing, wine-making industry

Chisinau, 1 October /MOLDPRES/ - Prime Minister Pavel Filip today attended the opening of the 15th issue of the National Wine Day 2016. The event is organized annually and is aimed at promoting native wine-makers and Moldova as tourist attraction for those who appreciate the Moldovan wines, the government’s communication and media relations department has reported.
In his greeting speech, the prime minister thanked the wine producers for the work and efforts made to raise the vine-growing and wine-making industry to the highest quality standards and for the promotion of Moldova’s image abroad. “The wine represents a product we can be proud of as citizens of Moldova and is our principal visiting card abroad. The native wines are equally appreciated by Moldovan and foreign citizens,” Pavel Filip said.
At the same time, the prime minister congratulated the wine-makers on the progress made at the most prestigious international festivals, assuring them that the authorities would further back actions to develop the branch. “We, at the government, are aware of how important your contribution to the country’s economic growth is and how important is for a country to have what to export. The cabinet remains the ally of the wine industry,” the PM noted.
At the event, Prime Minister Pavel Filip, along with U.S. Ambassador to Moldova James D. Pettit and Agriculture and Food Industry Minister Eduard Grama visited stands of the vine-growing and wine-making companies, which displayed their production, and discussed with producers problems they face and their vision on the sector’s development. At the same time, the prime minister handed the Grand Prize to Castel Mimi (Mimi Castle) for the special merits in the vine-growing and wine-making sector.
The National Wine Day is a holiday meant to strengthen the vine-growing and wine-making branch of Moldova around a symbolical emblem, Wine of Moldova. A Legend Alive. More than 40 wine producers from all over Moldova participate in the 2016 issue of the holiday.
