Germany marks National Day today

Chisinau, 3 October /MOLDPRES/- Germany, a state in central Europe, situated between Denmark, the Baltic Sea, Poland, the Czech Republic, Austria, Switzerland, France, Luxembourg, Belgium, Netherlands and the North Sea, marks the German Unity Day today, date which marked political, legislative, territorial and administrative reunification of the country.
Germany is a parliamentary federal republic made up of 16 states. Its capital is Berlin with a population of 3.4 million residents. Germany was a founding member of the European communities in 1957, which became European Union in 1993. It is a member of the United Nations, NATO, G8, G20 and OCDE. Known for its rich history and culture, Germany has produced many artists, philosophers, musicians, scientists and inventors.
The German industry is one of the most developed in the world. It is one of main exporting states, holding a key-position in EU and maintains many partnerships at global level.
The diplomatic relations between Moldova and Germany were set on 30 April 1992. German Ambassador to Moldova is Ulrike Knotz, and Moldovan Ambassador to Germany - Oleg Serebrian.
In 2015, Moldova exported goods amounting to 117.2 million dollars on German market, and imported goods estimated at 321.3 million dollars from Germany.
Over 400 enterprises with German capital are operating in Moldova. Germany ranks fifth in the top of countries which invested in Moldova. Among the biggest enterprises are: Dräxlmaier, Südzucker, Mabanaft, Knauf, Metro, Steilmann, Schenker.
