Business people from Moldova, Belarus assemble in Chisinau

Chisinau, 3 October /MOLDPRES/ - About 100 business people from Moldova and Belarus assembled at an economic forum in Chisinau today.  

Attending the opening of the forum, Prime Minister Pavel Filip welcomed the participants and stressed that the visit by the Belarusian delegation, led by Prime Minister Andrei Kobyakov, was a proof that the relations between the two countries were very good. Moldova is interested in the carrying out of development projects in more sectors with Belarus, the Moldovan PM said. He voiced confidence that the forum would help extend the commercial and economic ties between both states.   

For his part, Belarusian PM Andrei Kobyakov noted that the market of Belarus had been and was opened for Moldovan enterprises. In the context, the official specified that the foreign trade between Belarus and Moldova was on the rise in the first seven months of 2016, with a ten-per cent increase in the commercial exchanges between the two countries recorded, up to 150 million dollars.  

President of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry (CCI) Sergiu Harea noted that the institution he leads had a good cooperation with the counterparts from Belarus, in order to develop the cooperation between business people from the two countries. Harea also said that CCI had signed 14 agreements on cooperation with the chambers of commerce and industry from the Belarusian cities of Vitebsk, Gomel, Mogilev and Grodno. “I am sure that the today’s forum will give a new impetus to extending the economic cooperation between the two countries and will open new possibilities to set collaboration contacts between entrepreneurs from Moldova and Belarus,” Harea said.

The participants in the forum signed new contracts on cooperation between Moldovan and Belarusian producers.

The economic forum was organized by Moldova’s CCI in cooperation with its counterpart from Belarus.
