Chisinau, 3 October /MOLDPRES/- The censure motion against government Filip was rejected today by parliament, because of lack of quorum.
Deputy Speaker Vladimir Vitiuc announced that only 47 MPs of PSRM, PCRM and PLDM were present in the plenary session. “Due to the lack of quorum, the censure motion against government is announced to be rejected, so the laws assumed by the government will be sent for promulgation in the near future,” he said.
After the meeting, Prime Minister Pavel Filip said the parliamentary majority had taken a right decision not to offer a platform for a political show to those who signed the censure motion. “I think this document is not serious, demagogic and cynical, especially that the signatories of this motion are persons who laid the base, managed and benefitted from schemes for drawing out money from the Savings Bank (Banca de Economii),” Filip said.
In response, the lawmakers of PLDM and PSRM said what happened today would be an illegal action. “Under the parliament’s regulations, the draft had to be approved by the parliamentary commission for rules and immunities, it failed to be. Also, parliamentary sessions are set for Thursday and Friday, and Monday is the working day in territory for MPs. At the same time, the law sees that the censure motion has to be debated in the plenum, so we will appeal this issue to the Constitutional Court tomorrow,” PSRM leader Igor Dodon said.
Representatives and supporters of the Dignity and Truth Platform Party, PSRM and Our Party protested in front of parliament, as being dissatisfied with the government decision on taking responsibility for laws.
The censure motion has been submitted six days ago by 37 MPs of PSRM, PCRM and PLDM, after the government has decided to take responsibility to parliament on seven laws related to the financial-banking sector, as well as converting emergency loans in state debt which were offered by the National Bank of Moldova to three banks that were liquidated. Filip said “all draft laws have been coordinated with the International Monetary Fund, due to consider a new programme for Moldova in October 2016.”
The lawmakers of parliamentary majority have earlier said that after rejecting the censure motion against government, the laws assumed by the government enter into force automatically and are to be published in the Official Journal of Moldova.
