Parliament speaker unveils developments from Moldova in Washington

Chisinau, 3 October /MOLDPRES/ - Parliament Speaker Andrian Candu participated in a roundtable organized by the Atlantic Council in Washington today. Attending the event were experts of the Department of State, U.S. Department of Commerce, National Democratic Institute, International Republican Institute, etc., the parliament’s communication and public relations department has reported.
The discussions were focused on the domestic and external challenges Moldova is facing, way of overcoming them, stage of implementing the priority reforms, including the provisions of the Moldova – EU Association Agreement, Roadmap on the priority reforms’ agenda and preconditions of IMF. The other subjects tackled at the discussions were the electoral context and eventual post-electoral scenarios in Moldova, developments in the dialogue between the parliament and the popular assembly (local parliament) from Comrat (administrative centre of the Autonomous Territorial Unit of Gagauzia), as well as the situation in the Transnistrian region.
In Washington, Speaker Andrian Candu also had meetings at the German Marshall Fund and Freedom House Organization. At the events, the speaker discussed with the American officials legislative priorities for the autumn session, fighting corruption and cooperation with the civil society.
