Over 100,000 visitors participate in National Wine Day in Moldova

Chisinau, 3 October /MOLDPRES/ – Over 100,000 visitors attended the National Wine Day, which took place on 1 and 2 October on the Great National Assembly Square (PMAN) in Chisinau. The announcement was made today by George Arpentin, director of the National Office of Vine and Wine (ONVV) at a press conference.
"The National Wine Day this year was celebrated in a more special way, as it was held simultaneously both in Chisinau and at big wine producers in Moldova. Preliminary data show that the feast was attended by over 100,000 visitors out of which 12,000 visited eight wineries, where they had special programs for tourists. Also, over 450 people attended the wine school. During the two days of celebration the visitors consumed about 115,000 bottles of wine and producers launched 22 new wine products on the market," said the cited source.
In this context, the National Tourism Agency director, Stanislav Rusu said that "the holiday tourists came from several states, so hotels were required to the maximum. Unfortunately, until now the country's tourism companies were not able to process the data to present an exact figure of foreign guests," said Rusu.
Chisinau City Hall representatives announced that after completing the feast, directed municipal employees at Autosalubritate (Autosanitation) evacuated more than 120 tons of wastes from the Square.
The XVth edition of the National Wine Day was held under the single brand of Moldova "Moldovan wine. A living legend". This year, the festival was organized by the National Office of Vine and Wine (ONVV), the Ministry of Agriculture and Food Industry, supported by USAID Competitiveness Project Moldova, the strategic partner of the event.
According to preliminary data of the National Office of Vine and Wine (ONVV), the festival budget consisted 2.3 million lei.
